Second Chance Kennels is a collaborative program between Swanson Center for Youth, Delta K9 Solutions, and the Humane Society Adoption Center of Monroe, INC.
Second Chance Kennels is a program that is designed to give juvenile offenders a second chance by working with dogs that are awaiting adoption.
This is the only program of its kind located in the state of Louisiana pairing juvenile offenders with animals.
Four dogs will be kept on site at Swanson Center for Youth where they will be trained under the supervision of Chance Brasiel, a professional dog trainer. This allows us to give additional dogs a second chance by opening up four kennels at our shelter.
Kennels were built on site at Swanson Center for Youth by the students in the construction class under direction of their instructor.
All boys qualified for the program have to meet strict guidelines and must continue to meet those guidelines in the future to stay in the program.
