Additional Volunteering Information

What to expect when volunteering with us.

We love having volunteers come out and help us. We stay swamped and have a back log of things that always need to be done. When we have groups of volunteers come out we have planned certain projects for that day. The entire board of directors and other staff work side by side with any volunteers that come out. We never expect anyone to do anything that we have not done already or will not do. Please expect to get your hands dirty when you come to volunteer with us. We could be doing anything from kennel or building maintenance to yard work. Bathing dogs is also a common thing during the warm months. Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty or possibly ruining. A big thank you goes to all of the wonderful volunteers who come out and roll up their sleeves to help us with
all the hard work here at HSAC.

Foster Homes

The foster care program is vital to saving lives. Taking dogs or puppies into foster care gives them an opportunity to be socialized. Without foster homes, we cannot rescue as many pets.

The most important qualification is love and concern for pets. Time and desire to socialize pets, a willingness to provide food, water, and medications if necessary is very important.

Fostering a shelter dog can be very rewarding for you and the pet you foster!
